Incredible Stickers in iMessage Coming in iOS 10 - What About watchOS 3?
With today’s update to iOS 10, we are getting loads of new features. One of the cooler features is the update to iMessage. We are getting stickers in iMessage, but it’s much more than that. There is a whole App Store dedicated to not just stickers, but also functional widgets within the Messages app. Many of your existing apps will show stickers and/or widgets in your Messages app when you update. These stickers and widgets can be anything, such as weather, sports scores, movie showtimes, notes, restaurant recommendations, and games you can play within iMessage.
When you update to watchOS 3, you will be delighted by many improvements. However, the stickers in iMessage on the Apple Watch are not quite as functional as they are on your iOS devices. They’re there, but in a very limited way. So what can and can’t you do in watchOS 3 iMessage?
You can receive iMessages with enhancements like confetti, lasers, balloons, fireworks, slam, loud, gentle, and invisible ink. You cannot, however, send any of these.
You can receive iMessages with widgets such as movie showtimes, your game move, and others I mentioned above. But you can’t send them, and you can’t open them for more details on the Apple Watch. For that you’ll have to go to the iPhone.
As for the fun emoji-type stickers, you cannot download them or access your collection on the Apple Watch. You can, however, access the recently used stickers that you sent from the iPhone. To use them, open an iMessage on the Apple Watch and tap the emoji icon. Your recently used stickers will be there, along with the regular emoji.
I am hoping that more improvements will come to iMessage in watchOS 3.x. In the meantime, don’t be too bummed. We still have Scribble, and you’re going to love it.
