9to5Mac Video Shows Apple Watch Series 1 Just As Fast As Series 2

October 5, 2016

A recent article on 9to5Mac.com included a video that showed the author running an informal speed test on an Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2.

Potential Apple Watch buyers may experience some confusion over whether to buy a first generation Apple Watch, an Apple Watch Series 1, or an Apple Watch Series 2. There is no one answer to that question, and there are many factors to consider. Apple no longer sells its first generation Apple Watch, but it can certainly be found on clearance at big box stores or secondhand on any resale site. The Series 1 has the same features and form factor as the first generation Apple Watch, but according to Apple it contains the same faster processor as the Apple Watch Series 2.

The Apple Watch Series 2 has added features such as waterproofing and GPS. But some users may not need the new features, and just want the added speed that the Series 1 watches offer while saving $100 off the price of the Series 2. But is the Apple Watch Series 1 really just as fast as the Apple Watch Series 2? Watch the video below to see both watches in action. They do appear to be virtually the same speed, with some tasks being accomplished at the same time while other times one or the other watch appears very slightly faster.

The Series 2 starts at $369, whereas the Series 1 starts at $269. You can read the full article here.
