Apple Invents Apple Watch Band with Embedded Haptics

August 11, 2016

Today, the USPTO (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) published a new patent from Apple showing the possibility of future Apple Watch bands having the ability to send haptic feedback. While the Apple Watch is already capable of sending feedback for such things as notifications, a band with haptic feedback could perhaps offer stronger taps in order to help make the user more aware of different notifications.

Rumors of smart bands have been around for quite some time now, especially given the fact that Apple has a built-in diagnostic port embedded right into the Apple Watch. Whether or not the second-generation Apple Watch includes smart bands is still unknown. However, a feature like this could certainly entice people to either upgrade or jump to buying their very first Apple Watch.

We’re likely only a few weeks away from finding out what Apple has in store for the second-generation Apple Watch. Smart bands would be super interesting, and one with embedded haptics could truly be a game changer.
