Apple Recruiting Engineer To Focus On Apple Watch Clock Faces

February 10, 2016

A new job description for a software engineer on the Apple Watch team suggests that Apple is looking to create deeper, more interesting clock faces and complications for future version of watchOS. As discovered by iPhoneHacks, the listing is looking a candidate with over 3 years software development to join the team.

Description

As a member of the team you will have many responsibilities relating to the design, development, and testing of the device software.

  • Collaborating closely with the design team to push the envelope on human-computer interactions.
  • Creating solutions tailored to the constraints of the software and the hardware of a small, low power device.
  • Working closely with the iOS Apps, iOS Frameworks and Hardware teams to create robust and maintainable systems that will stand the test of time.
  • Coordinating with the quality assurance teams to ensure full test coverage as well as to initiate focused testing on critical components.

While Apple has added two new Apple Watch faces just this past September, we haven’t seen anything meaningfully updated to the Watch faces since its debut back in October of 2014. Many Apple Watch fans are hoping the company has a few new, more interesting faces ready for watchOS 3 in addition to the possibly that the company may allow third-parties to design faces.

Rumors have been swirling that Apple is planning a March event where they will show off updates to the Watch as well as a new, smaller 4-inch iPhone. Perhaps the company may debut a face or two at the event, though we think they’ll hold off until WWDC.
