Apple Updating Apple Watch In March With New Bands, New Design In The Fall
Apple plans to update and introduce new Apple Watch bands in March, according to a report from 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman.
According to Gurman, the update is unlikely to include new hardware functionality, but instead will be for the formal release of watchOS 2.2, which went into beta earlier this month. Gurman also reports that watchOS 2.2 may have other features that are being developed and we could see them during the March update.
It’s also being reported that new bands “made out of new materials” are in development as well new new partnerships similar to Hermès.
Finally, Apple is currently on pace to debut a second-generation redesigned Apple Watch sometime in the Fall, likely alongside the iPhone 7. What this Watch will look like or feature is still unknown.
Apple hasn’t held a Spring event in many years. Many speculate that the company will debut a new 4-inch version of the iPhone as well as an update to the iPad Air and of course something related to the Apple Watch. Given Gurman’s track record, we think he’s right about everything he claims.
We’ll keep you updated as more news of this March event trickles in.
