Fossil Q Founder Android Wear Watch Can Now be Purchased on the Google Play Store
Fossil, the popular watch maker that’s taking its talent to the smartwatch, is now officially selling its first Android Wear watch, dubbed the Q Founder, on the Google Store online. The watch, which was originally only sold on Fossil’s own website can now be directly purchased from Google. Yay!
The watch is priced at $275 and includes a 1.5-inch round LCD display with a Moto 360-like flat tire that comes in at 38mm. It also includes an Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of on board storage, a 400mAh battery, and is IP67 water resistant certified.
The Fossil Q is yet another watch that is essentially doing what every other Android watch manufacturer is doing – packing Android Wear into a round watch simply because they believe that’s what a watch should look like. Unfortunately, what Fossil and many others are going to eventually realize is that nobody cares. These are essentially all the same product with very little differences. Why would I buy this over a Moto 360? Why would I buy this over an LG? or a Samsung? or a Huawei?
This is the sad reality of the Android Wear marketplace. Every round watch running Android Wear is going to essentially look and nearly feel the same. Sooner or later, these folks are going to figure that out. And when they do, it’s not going to be pretty.
