Where Is Pinterest For Apple Watch?

Of all the big-name apps shown off during Apple Watch’s original reveal, only one still hasn’t made its way to the App Store. Here we are some 4100 apps deep into the Apple Watch era, and Pinterest is nowhere to be found!

Kevin Lynch, VP of Technology at Apple, showed off the wrist-ready iteration of the social service some eight months ago, highlighting its unique ability to automatically feed you walking directions to previously pinned destinations whenever you get nearby. That’s a limited but interesting use case all things considered, and we’re bummed that nobody’s had the chance to test it out in the real world yet.

Large Internet companies aren’t immune to missing huge product launches, but it’s hard to understand why Pinterest is so late to the game. You only get one chance to be a pioneer. And while it seemed like Pinterest was easily on its way to a much more clever wearable experience than, say, Instagram, we can only wonder if they bit off more than they can chew so early on.

Of course, Pinterest is Pinterest just like eBay is eBay, and being late to Apple Watch probably won’t cost either brand any meaningful amount of users.
