Hack Explains Why There's No Stock Apple Watch Browser
Well-known hacker Comex has posted a video showing off the beginnings of a traditional browser experience on Apple Watch. The short demo serves two purposes.
Firstly, on the surface, the video’s useful because it seeks to explain the misguided foolishness of pushing a platform beyond its logical capabilities. No, it’s not impossible to put a browser on Apple Watch, but you’re going to have to put on your Explorer hat, rework the familiar concept of Safari, and strip off all the Chrome before it’ll be any use at all.
Secondly, and far more to the point, the video is almost certainly a teaser for a forthcoming Apple Watch jailbreak. For Comex’ community, that’s good news, as the current state of things prevents jailbroken iPhones from working with Apple Watch. True, when and if iOS 8.2 or 8.3 are jailbroken, Apple Watch integration will likely be on board, but I assume the DIY set will be far more happy when both devices are freed from Apple’s big walled garden.
And I also assume we’ll see some really cool things from those unshackled developers, especially if they get full sensor access before anyone else.
