Apple Watch Sales Remain Steady After 15 Months
It’s been nearly fifteen months since the Apple Watch launched in the U.S. and new data from Swiss bank UBS suggests that sales of the Watch have yet to experience a decline in sales so far this year.
According to UBS, Apple sold roughly 1.7 million Apple Watches in the June quarter, an increase of about 100,000 units compared to the 1.6 million sold in the March quarter.
The next-generation Apple Watch is rumored to debut alongside the next-generation “iPhone 7″ sometime this fall. Rumored features include a FaceTime camera, GPS, cellular connectivity, as well as smart bands.
UBS believes that Apple Watch sales will rise to 2 million units in the September quarter, which would total over 10 million units sold in fiscal 2016. If Apple hits these numbers, it would make the Apple Watch the most popular smartwatch for the second year in a row, ahead of rivals such as Samsung, LG, Hauwei and others.
Apple has yet to disclose Watch sales in its quarterly earning results, which makes guessing estimates a bit harder. That said, customers clearly remain interested in the Apple Watch and speaking for myself I see more and more of them every day. With watchOS 3 just a couple months away, I think the Apple Watch is going to have a great holiday quarter.
