Horti Beacon is used when visiting places that have implemented the PROX IoT (ZipNFC) system that helps provide information on trees, shrubs and artefacts in arboretums, gardens and estate properties. It is a very simple application to use; you first have to tell the application which place you are at by finding the Place reference, which will be clearly displayed at the entrance and in information centres. As you walk around, when you are interested to find out more about the particular tree, shrub or artefact, you can simply press the information button and the details will be presented on your screen. As you move around simply press the button to find out more about other trees, shrubs or artefacts. If audio is available it will play at the same time as the information is presented on your screen so that you can view the pictures and read the information as you listen. You do not have to have the application visible on your iPhone or iPad as it will send notifications when it finds new items of interest. If you review your notifications and find something interesting then simply swipe and you will be taken to the information for that item. If you have an Apple Watch and your main device is locked then you will see the notification on your watch with enough information to determine if it is of interest. You can find out more about it by looking at your iPhone or iPad.If you own an arboretum or garden estate and are interested in using this information system you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
