The Highlands Center for Natural History Trails Guide App includes guides to two of our popular trails, the Stretch-Pebble Loop Trail (#443), and the Geologic Field Guide to the Highlands Center’s Lynx Creek Site (#442).The Stretch-Pebble Loop (#443) is an easy, 3/4 mile, accessible trail. It's the best trail for first time visitors, those with young children, or for those with limited mobility. It features 9 interpretive stops, including the fantastic “Stretch Pebble Conglomerate” outcrop.The Highlands Trail (#442) is a 1-1/2 mile loop with moderate inclines. It features 11 interpretive stops offering insights into the unique geologic and historic features of the site. It also includes a 360-degree view of the Lynx Creek and Prescott Basin area at the highest point above the Center.Our 80 acre campus, located near Lynx Creek on South Walker Road in Prescott, Arizona, is a microcosm of the Central Arizona Highlands Region – a transition zone between the southern and western Basin and Range deserts and the Colorado Plateau to our north. It features three miles of hiking trails in the Prescott National Forest.Our trails connect to other hiking trails within the Prescott National Forest providing access to Lynx Lake and the surrounding area.Both trails have restroom facilities available for your convenience. Leashed pets are welcome. Free parking is available.
