A Snowy Forecast as Spotify Set to Launch on Apple Watch

Do you wish you could access your Spotify account on your Apple Watch? This should soon become a reality thanks to a third-party app called Snowy.
First noticed by 9to5Mac in February when it was called Spotty, Snowy allows Spotify Premium subscribers to sync playlists and albums for offline playback on Apple Watch. The free app comes from CS student Andrew Chang.
In a recent posting on Reddit, Chang notes that Spotify is now supporting the development of Snowy, which uses Spotify’s iOS SDK. The company once had concerns about the project and didn’t like its original name.
He notes:
Spotify’s powerful iOS SDK made it possible to develop Snowy, but I can’t wait to take things to the next level with the expertise and tools available at Spotify. While I can’t give any estimates as to when it’ll be available, you can rest assured that a Spotify Apple Watch companion app is in the pipeline.
I can’t believe Spotify hasn’t developed a dedicated app for Apple Watch. Nonetheless, I’m happy to see that something like Snowy is finally in the pipeline. Hopefully, we’ll see it on the App Store very soon.
When Snowy was still called Spotty, 9to5Mac posted an excellent video showing the app in action. Take a look:
