Emoji Tac Toe is a Quick Fix Game on the Apple Watch

The classic game of tic-tac-toe, or noughts and crosses, is a perfect quick fix game for the Apple Watch. There is no deep backstory, complicated gameplay, or continuing saga here. Emoji Tac Toe is just the simple game you probably played with pen and paper as a child. You take turns placing your symbol on the 3X3 grid; the object is to get three of your symbols in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

In this iteration, you’ll see the grid when you open the app on your Apple Watch. You can play only against the computer here. You and the computer are each represented by a random emoji; each time you play the emojis will be different. You go first; just tap a square in the grid and you’re off. The computer is a “smart” player, in other words, it’s not going to make dumb mistakes to let you win. I’ve played it a number of times and it’s been a draw every time. Just to see what happens when there is a winner, I did throw a game and let the computer win, as you can see with the turkey vs. mouse game below.

If you play on the iPhone, there are more features than on the Apple Watch. On the iPhone, you can choose your symbol, play against other people, and even send games and play in iMessage.

Emoji Tac Toe is a totally free game with no ads. It’s a great little diversion to have on hand to fill those brief lulls in life.
