Google To Shut Down Its Answer To Apple's Digital Touch

August 7, 2016

Google plans to shut down its “Together” watch face feature, its answer to Apple’s Digital Touch, according to Android Police. Google says that “many of the best features of Together will be integrated directly” the forthcoming Android Wear 2.0 update, due to arrive this fall.

Together was launched roughly a year ago, and let two Android Wear users contact each other using doodles, emoji’s photos without having to jump into an App.

Android Wear 2.0 is expected come sometime this fall, though we’re not sure if it will be before the Together feature shuts down on September 30th. Android Police also notes that first-generation Android Watches are not likely to get Android Wear 2.0, meaning they’ll lose the Together feature without gaining any of the new functionality of Android Wear 2.0. Whomp, whomp.

Meanwhile, those of us wearing first-generation Apple Watches will get all the features of watchOS 3, set to also debut this fall.
