Find My Apple Watch in iCloud with watchOS 3
Another much-requested feature to look forward to with the release of watchOS 3 this fall is the ability to find your misplaced Apple Watch. Just like you can use iCloud and the Find My iPhone apps on your iPhone and iPad to locate all of your other Apple products, soon your Apple Watch will be included.
Redditor clev1 discovered this feature while using the watchOS 3 beta. This feature will likely be most useful if you misplace your Apple Watch in your own home. It does utilize the Play a Sound feature to help you pinpoint its location. Since the Apple Watch doesn’t have cellular service, you’ll need to be in certain Wi-Fi locations for the feature to work. Some people speculate that the addition of this feature points to an independently operating Apple Watch, totally untethered from the iPhone. I don’t know that this is necessarily is the case, but you never know. At any rate, the ability to add the Apple Watch to the Find My iPhone app is a welcome addition to the watch’s feature set.
