Samsung Gear S2 Gains iOS Support
The Samsung Gear S2, perhaps the best looking round smartwatch to date now officially works with iPhone’s, so long that it’s on Verizon.
Verizon has officially pushed the update today that will allow the Gear S2 to work with iPhone’s running iOS 8.4 or later.
There are two version of the Gear S2 available: The Sport and the Classic. Unfortunately, it’s very likely that the watch won’t support things like text message notifications and apps from the Apple Watch app store. Instead, you’ll be to do use all the Health aspects of the Watch but we’re unsure if it’ll be able to sync with Apple’s Health app. We’re doubtful.
The update also adds support for Android Marshmallow devices. Samsung hasn’t made any mention of compatibility issues, so if you’re in the market for a nice round smartwatch and you don’t want all the features of the Apple Watch, the S2 looks like a decent choice.
Just remember, it needs to be on Verizon.
