Get wait times with Magic Guide for Universal Studios Orlando
I recently took a trip to Orlando and visited some of the famous theme parks there. I had to start with Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure to check out anything and everything having to do with Harry Potter. There are, of course, paper maps and guides to help us around the park, but what most guests want to know is, what are the wait times for rides?
Universal Studios actually has its own very nice app with this information and much more. But if you’ve ever spent all day at a theme park, you know you don’t want to rely too heavily on constantly pulling out your iPhone, lest you run out of battery. Enter Magic Guide for Universal Studios Orlando – Wait Times & Maps.
The iPhone app has a few more features than the watch app, but you can get the most important information you need all day right from your wrist. There is neither a glance nor a complication for this app, but I found that Siri worked like a charm for opening it. On the opening screen, you’ll see the park hours for both Universal parks; they are often different so be sure to note that when planning your visit. You’ll also see options to tap your favorites (which you set up ahead of time on the iPhone) and each of the parks.
Tap one of those options, and that will take you to a list of wait times for each attraction. Tap on the attraction for a photo and more information, like whether Express Passes are honored and the minimum height requirement. The accuracy of the wait times depends on users like you, so you’ll also see an option to enter the current wait time.
That’s all there is to it, it’s a simple but useful app like Apple Watch apps should be. A quick look and a couple of taps on your wrist is more efficient than pulling out your iPhone for the same information. The iPhone app does offer more information, such as park maps and dining information. But for wait times, the watch app is all you need.
