Casio Thinks It Can Sell You A Smartwatch for $500

At this years Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Casio debuted it’s rugged Android Wear powered smartwatch dubbed, wait for it, the Smart Outdoor Watch. At the time the company didn’t reveal much about the products availability, but today we’ve learned everything we need to know.

First, the watch will go on sale beginning March 25, and you’ll be able to grab it at participating REI retailers, the Google Store, Amazon, and of course Casio’s website.

Second, and here’s where we think Casio made a huge mistake, the watch will be priced at $499. Yes, you read that right. Casio wants to sell you a smartwatch for $500 bucks. For that price you get a watch offers a variety of Casio-made watch faces as well as some other digital tools meant for the outdoors.

Because it runs Android Wear we assume that it will function well with those of you who have Android devices. Still, with all the other options out there, it’s hard for us to understand why anyone would pay $500 for this thing.

Either way, if you’re interested, you’re just a few days away from getting your hands on this.
