Take the best route to your destination with ETA
Pick a destination and ETA analyzes your route, including traffic conditions, to let you know when you’re expected to arrive and offer you the best route. It’s one of those apps that is better and more feature-filled on the iPhone than on the Apple Watch, but it still has some functionality on the Apple Watch that makes it worthwhile. The Apple Watch version of the app is a supplement to the iPhone app, not a replacement.
You’ll need to start on your iPhone. There you can enter your destination. If you have multiple places you frequent, such as work or school, you can go ahead and enter all of them.
When you’re ready to head out, you can just use your Apple Watch. There are several ways to open the app. There is both a complication and a glance for ETA. If you don’t wish to use the complication or the glance, Siri works great for opening the app. There is always the app cloud option as well. One important thing to note: in order to get the complication to update, there’s an extra step you need to take that might not be intuitive. You’ll need to force press after you pick your destination; there you’ll see the option to set as complication.
Once the app is open, you’ll see a list of all the destinations you entered on the iPhone, along with how long it would take you to get to each one. Tap the destination of your choice. There you’ll see your ETA, a brief description of the route and traffic conditions, and a map. Tap the map to get directions. You’ll get the option for walking, driving, and transit directions, if available. Tap the one you want and your directions will begin. The option to stop your directions anytime will come up if you force press.
One feature the app has on the iPhone that I wish was on the Apple Watch as well is the ability to message someone your ETA. But overall, with the features that are included for the watch, this is a very useful app for Apple Watch owners to have. The user interface is minimalistic and visually appealing. And the app simply works. You can buy ETA on the App Store for $2.99.
