Get Fresh Apple Watch Faces All Day With Facer

I’ve tried out the Photo Album face on my Apple Watch, like I’ve tried all of the faces Apple has to offer. I like it, but I get tired of looking at the same pictures over and over and so I end up switching to a different face before long. Enter Facer. You won’t have to look at the same photos anymore.

Facer really pushes the envelope and gives you new watch faces, on a theme you choose, every time you look at your watch. Many of the themes are live channels, so there are always new photos being added. The concept is simple, but it hasn’t been done before on the Apple Watch.

When you download Facer, the app will walk you through setup. Set the Photo Album face on your Apple Watch, and then take a look at the themes Facer has to offer. Some themes are free, while others are available for in-app purchase. You can only use one theme at a time, but you can change your theme anytime. There can be a little bit of a delay when you change themes, but that may be due to limitations of Apple’s platform.

Instagram is a free theme. You link up the app to your Instagram account, and every time you look at your watch you’ll see one of the photos from your Instagram feed as the background. You can also choose Tumblr, which shows the latest photos from your Tumblr feed. This one is a $1.99 IAP. There are three cartoon themes that are available for $.99 each: Garfield, Betty Boop, and Popeye.

There are a number of free themes that feature curated photo and art designs. Facer Community features artistic designs created by other Facer users. You can share your own designs here. Gratisography features cute animals, nature, and more. Unsplash is filled with “incredible photography from around the world.” Superfamous offers “bold and distinct imagery of nature, art, and architecture.” Patterns is just what it sounds like, a collection of colorful patterns.

The following four educational themes run $.99 apiece. ¡Si si! teaches you Spanish with a new word each time you lift your wrist. Oui oui! teaches French one word at a time. Periodic table is great review for Chemistry students. Constellations helps you learn to spot the most popular constellations in the night sky.

And finally, there two more space themes. The Cosmos is a free theme that shows you a planet or moon, with the name, each time you check the time. Official NASA, also free, features actual photos from the US space program.

Some of the themes, like Instagram for example, are updating live all the time with new photos. I would also imagine that Facer will regularly add new themes in the future. With Facer, you will have an endless supply of new Apple Watch faces make your watch more personalized. Facer is available on the App Store for free.
