Citymapper for Apple Watch brings smart public transit data to the wrist

February 25, 2016

Citymapper is an essential iOS app for anyone who navigates their town using public transport. The application, however, also offers a smart watchOS app that brings some of Citymapper’s best features to the wrist. You can download the software now free of charge, and it’s definitely a must-have app for smartwatch-owning folks who use buses, trains, and subways as part of their daily community.

Serving 29 urban centers as diverse as London, Lyon, Boston, and Tokyo, Citymapper aims to make city travel as stress-free as possible. And, rather brilliantly, it manages it. Plugging in a desired destination (“home” and “work” can be saved, usefully) serves up every imaginable method of getting there, including a nice Uber sync-up.

There’s coverage for cities across North America, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. You can also vote for support for additional cities at citymapper.com/nextcity.

On the Apple Watch, Citymapper’s best features are available to fire off on the small-sized display. Upon launching the app, you can, with a tap, get public transit routes for home, or for a favorite address. It’s also possible to find locations nearby using the Watch application, too. Though you’ll probably use this feature slightly less than the aforementioned one.

To quickly get from A to B — and especially if B happens to be your home address — Citymapper on the Apple Watch is a perfect solution. The Maps application from Apple has yet to gain public transit support for most major cities, and so for the rest of us Citymapper is here to save your day — and streamline your commute.

The application can be yours free of charge.
