Popular to-do manager Todoist adds a native Apple Watch app

February 24, 2016

At long last, Todoist users (todoers?) can enjoy a more refined, native experience on their smartwatch thanks to the release of a revamped Apple Watch application, designed especially for Cupertino’s watchOS 2.

You can download the application free of charge, and it’s supported by a premium in-app purchase. The iOS application prides itself on its simplicity, collaboration functionality, and huge feature set. On the Apple Watch, however, Todoist had previously been on the slow side because it was still engineered for the first iteration of watchOS (which didn’t allow for native Watch apps).

This has changed as of version 11.0 of Todoist: the application has indeed received an update for watchOS 2, meaning it’ll now run natively on your Apple Watch. There are a bunch of additional features, however, which complement this move perfectly. Aside from “infinitely faster loading times,” users can also enjoy a range of customizable complications for the Todoist Watch app. It’s possible to spin the Digital Crown in order to Time Travel and check on upcoming events, and Dictation support for notifications has been added, too. As before, however, Todoist features the same, minimalist user interface (UI).

Here’s a complete recap:

  • Enjoy infinitely faster loading times
  • Use customizable Complications to see the number of tasks due today or your next upcoming task
  • Time Travel with your Digital Crown to view your upcoming tasks with due dates and times
  • Dictate replies to comments directly from your notifications
  • View and manage your tasks offline, even without your phone nearby

If the Reminders iOS app isn’t doing it for you, consider taking Todoist for a spin. You can download it free for iOS and watchOS, although the software’s $29-per-year IAP is required in order for some of the app’s most basic features to be enabled.
