Workflow for Apple Watch lets users truly automate watchOS
We told you about IFTTT for watchOS a couple of days ago, noting at the time that it lets automation fans (like myself) fire off Web-based recipes from their wrist. Anyone serious about automating watchOS, however, should consider downloading Workflow: the powerful automation application for iOS.
To put it simply, Workflow on the Apple Watch lets users connect watchOS apps together. It works much like the iPhone app (albeit to a lesser degree), but don’t let this put you off; Workflow is a powerful app for Apple Watch users, and it can truly transform the way you use the wearable device.
There are two main screens in Workflow’s watchOS app: the first lets users view their current workflows, and the second lets owners check on the Workflow Gallery. This is definitely one of the app’s best features, and I’m so glad the team behind Workflow brought their Gallery to the Watch app. You see, the Gallery not only allows users to browse a selection of workflows optimized for the Apple Watch, but it also makes it possible for users to download workflows on-demand.
So, what can you use Workflow for? Well, the app can provide workflow shortcuts to find directions or ETAs for journeys to your nearest coffee shop, or to a saved destination (like your home or office); it can calculate tips, and it can configure location-based reminders, too. Usefully, a number of these are available for folks to add right into the Workflow Watch app from the Gallery interface. But it’s also possible to create your own Apple Watch workflows for the watchOS app.
Moreover, there’s a Workflow complication, a Glance, and the app fully supports Handoff.
Workflow is the kind of app that you can play around with for hours. It’s also the kind of application that can really save you time and make you more efficient. It’s hands down the best automation app for watchOS, and for anyone with an interest in this area of personal computing, Workflow is without doubt a must-have.
