Time Travel through the day's weather with CARROT for Apple Watch
Time Travel on watchOS 2 heralded the launch of countless Crown-spinning apps for Apple Watch, but so far, there’s a limited number of use cases for the feature. One app that’s definitely put a smart spin on Time Travel (once again, pun intended) is CARROT Weather: the talking forecast robot.
So, in CARROT Weather for Apple Watch you can not only take advantage of a fairly decent Watch app and Glance, but there’s a nice complication, too, which indeed supports Time Travel. You want to know what the forecast is going to look like in one, two, or even five hours, meatbag? No problem: provided CARROT is one of your Watchface complications, you can spin the Digital Crown in order to get a dynamically-changing forecast for the near future. I love it.
Granted, this works much better as a big, center-screen complication on the Modular Watchface, though even the smaller complication offers a mini icon alongside the predicted temperature when Apple Watch owners Time Travel (both complication options are pictured above). You can also access a similar feature using Apple’s Weather complication, but in our opinion, CARROT’s offering yields more accurate results. Plus, a ton of users are already enjoying it on iOS and Mac.
I still prefer using the Calendar complication in Modular’s big center position, however (there’ll be more on this soon, I promise), but CARROT is definitely a close contender. The app itself can be downloaded for $3.99, and a premium $1.99 IAP unlocks half-hourly updates, rain predictions, and advanced customization options.
Complications and Time Travel aside, CARROT for Apple Watch is clearly a far better alternative to Apple’s own Weather for watchOS, and we think you should be using it.
