Pebble today announced a few new features which bring the company’s Timeline feature to the Pebble Classic and Steel. The company is also introducing Pebble Health, a new health-tracking feature for the company’s Pebble Time watch.

According to the company, Pebble Health was created in collaboration with researchers at Stanford University. It is able to track daily activity and automatically detect when you’re sleeping and display the info right on you wrist, eliminating the need for third-party fitness trackers.

Since you are your best motivator, Pebble Health focuses on personal success. Instead of striving for an arbitrary step count, your daily progress is measured against your own personal average. At night, Pebble Health tracks how long and well you sleep, helping you make better sleep decisions. Weekly graphs of both step and sleep stats make it easy to see trends over time.

Interestingly, Pebble Health works with Apple’s HealthKit, and Pebble says it plans to launch a an API that will enable developers to build apps and watch faces around the new feature.

If you own a Pebble Time, Time Steel, or Time Round, you can get access to Pebble Health simply by updating the Pebble smartphone app and your Pebble Watch to the latest version of the software. Unfortunately, if you do not have either of these models, you will not be able to receive Pebble Health.
