Apple Plans March Apple Watch 2 Event
The well-informed and often reliable Mark Gurman is reporting that Apple plans to unveil the next-generation Apple Watch sometime in March 2016, followed by a shipment date sometime in April.
Apple began to develop technologies destined for future Apple Watch models long before the first generation even shipped. As we previously reported, Apple has been working on new camera, wireless, sleep tracking, and health sensor technologies for the wearable device, but it is currently unclear which of these additions are will appear on the model planned to be introduced in March. Apple last updated the device in September with new colors, bands, and software features.
If you recall, Gurman was the first to report that Apple has been working on various new technologies for the Apple Watch 2, including things like a FaceTime camera was well as better health sensors. It’s also rumored that the next-generation Apple Watch may include the ability to attach smart bands that would potentially allow for better tracking of health and movement.
It’s already December, so if Gurman is right, we could see the next-gen Apple Watch in just a few short months. I’ve been a huge believe in that the Apple Watch should have a Spring cycle since most people start to become more active around that time. That, and it gives folks a good 3 to 4 months to recover and save after the holidays.
If Gurman is right, this comes as little surprise.
