Apple Watch Users Cherish Notifications, Enjoy Siri
Wristly is out with their weekly report and this week they’ve gathered information around Notifications and Siri. c
First, while the new Taptic engine remains a big crowd favorite, only a minority of users is able to know what type of notification was just received by it. For the very large majority, the nascent reflex in response to a new notification is to simply Tilt the wrist and check it out.
Interestingly, the Taptic engine does not appear to be strong enough at letting the wearer know they’ve received a notification. In fact, less than 20 percent of wearers say that the Taptic engine “Always” notifies them and over 60 percent say it only notifies them “Sometimes”. Clearly this is an area that Apple could improve significantly.
When it comes to responding to notifications roughly a third of wearers say they respond with a pre-defined text answer or with the use of Siri. Surprisingly 25 percent say they go back to their phone and less than 10 percent say they use an Emoji.
Notifications continue to be an interesting element of the Apple Watch. It’s without question one of its primary functions and we expect to see a lot more innovation in that space over the coming years.
