Survey: 97 Percent of Apple Watch Owners Have Upgraded to WatchOS 2
According to the latest survey from research firm Wristly, about 97 percent of Apple Watch owners have already upgraded to from watchOS 1 to watchOS 2. While the number is very high, one of the major problems was the process of upgrading, with 24 percent saying that it was “harder than expected.”
Analyzing the upgrade process in a little more depth, our panel reports that they had to attempt the process at least twice (15%) or even three times or more (9%). Additionally about a third of the panel reported that they had to reboot either their Apple Watch or both Apple Watch and iPhone during the process and finally almost 20% of upgraders had to re-pair their iPhone to their Watch. Overall, we rate the process good but with room for improvements.
Not surprising, one of the most used features of watchOS 2 is complications, which gives third-party apps the ability to place tiny widgets of information right on the Watch face. According to Wristly, live sports, music, notifications from Facebook, and and stocks were the most popular complications added from third-developers.
Another interesting bit of info is that most users (90%) are only using only three of the built-in Apple Watch faces, with the most popular being Modular at 44 percent. Utility comes in at second at 35 percent, and Simple comes in at 15 percent.
