7 Minute Workout Adds watchOS 2 Compatibility Including Complications and Activity Rings

September 25, 2015

One of the more popular 7 minute workout apps for iPhone called 7 Minute Workout “Seven” has updated its app for watchOS 2. While there are many 7 minute workout apps, so far, this seems like it’s the best.

The app has added a variety of new functions including the ability for the app to fill up your Activity Rings. Now, if you successfully complete a full 7 minute workout, you’ll have added 7 minutes of activity to your daily goal of 30 minutes.

The app has also added the ability to read your Heart Rate during workouts. This will help in accurately determining how many calories you have burned since the Apple Watch uses the heart rate sensor to determine the intensity of exercise.

Finally, the app has also added a complication to help push you to its 7 month challenge which is to workout for 7 minutes a day for 7 months straight. Do that and the company says you’ll become a “7/7 champion.”

One major omission from this app is audio playback. It doesn’t appear that the app plays audio through the Watch itself. Instead, when starting a workout, the audio will play through the iPhone. I’m hoping this gets fixed in a new update because working out with just my Watch is something that I would love to do. For now though, this seems like one of the better 7 minute workout apps for the Watch. You can download it in the app store for free.
