This is Vector's smartwatch

September 18, 2015

As if there’s no shortage of smartwatches out there, Vector has decided to jump into the game with its Luna watch, a round Pebble-like smartwatch aimed at looking like a traditional watch while offering nearly 30 days of battery life.

Engadget’s Daniel Cooper got his hands on one and has some interesting things things to say, one of them being that it looks like a “Skymall reject.” Ouch. The watch is 44mm with a 240 x 240 resolution display that seems to look like it’s e-ink though we aren’t completely sure.

One of the biggest selling features has to be the battery life as Vector claims it gets 30 days, which is far more than watches like the Apple Watch or Moto 360 get. In fact, according to Cooper, he was actually able to squeeze out a bit more.

I received the device on July 28th and it died on August 29th — meaning I got more than 30 days out of this thing with near-constant use. If I have one complaint, it’s that there’s no easy way to see the battery life on the device, but I guess you’re not meant to worry about it, so I didn’t.

Not bad. Still, there’s one major issue though and that’s price. Sure it looks like a watch, but let’s be honest with ourselves… if you’re going to buy a smartwatch, you want it to be… smart. This watch may give you long battery life and it may offer some smart functionality, but there’s simply no way it’s going to offer deep integration with your iPhone or Android device in the way watchOS or Android Wear will. And for over $450 bucks, that’s a really, really thought sell.
