T-Mobile and Sprint to Start Selling Apple Watch on September 25
While T-Mobile’s John Legere announced last week that company would begin selling the Apple Watch, we were not informed of a specific date. According to MacRumors and 9to5Mac, it looks like both T-Mobile and Sprint will be authorized sellers of the Apple Watch beginning September 25th.
Why the 25th? Well, with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus launching on the same day, it’s likely that carriers will be able to start selling the watch as an accessory to the iPhone. After all, the Watch does need the phone, right? What’s even more interesting, however, is the potential for special deals that may occur in order to entice buyers to stay or switch. For instance, T-Mobile could offer a Rose Gold Apple Watch Sport for $200 if you buy an iPhone 6s Plus full price. Or maybe the they will allow customers to pay $15 dollars extra a month to own the Apple Watch alongside their iPhone.
I’m beginning to think that this is a very smart move and could help with the adoption of Apple Watch over the next few years. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if Apple started doing the same.
