Rumor: September 9 Keynote To Feature New Apple Watch Bands
Speaking of the Apple Watch, we’re told that new Apple Watch Sport band colors will launch on the 9th. The new colors could be the same as or similar to the wider variety of sport bands Apple’s Chief Design Officer Jony Ive showed to small audiences at private Apple Watch events earlier this year.
“Hey Siri, give us a hint.”
That’s what the latest Apple keynote invite says, and there are many theories as to what the clue actually means. In standing with Apple tradition, it’s likely multifaceted (the RGB waves indicate an Apple TV announcement, for example), but at least some of the puzzle undoubtedly has to do with Apple Watch. With the above news, perhaps one aspect (or two, if you include the iPhone 6S’s purported new rose gold color option) has to do with the wearable’s rubber straps.
Yep, one of the things sorely lacking on the hardware side of Apple Watch — particularly the Sport version — is a robust offering of differently-colored Sport Bands. I’ve been hankering for an orange arrangement for forever, and an extra hint of color is exactly what my Apple Watch needs. While this concept could — and ultimately will — extend to new anodized finishes for the aluminum model (a matte gold to match current iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks comes to mind), a bevy of new colors for Sport straps seems like a sure thing.
I just hope Apple updates all its Face color options to match every stock Sport Band that it offers. (Except for black, obviously.)
