Wave of New Android Wear Watches to Debut at IFA
According to a new report from CNET, a new wave of Android Wear devices will make their debut at next months’s IFA trade show in Berlin. According to the report, Motorola, LG, Huawei, and ASUS will all have new wearables to show off in Germany.
Over the past few weeks we’ve seen supposed leaks of the upcoming next-generation Moto 360 as well as a teaser of Samsung’s Gear S2 during the Galaxy Note 5 unveiling. We’ve also been told that the Huawei Watch will finally get a price tag and will be fully detailed.
The IFA timing tends to make a lot of sense given that the devices will likely go on sale shortly after, just in time for the holidays. The event is also about a week before Apple’s rumored iPhone 6S event where it’s rumored that we may see some updates to the Apple Watch including new Sport colors and potentially new bands.
I’ll be interested to see how the public reacts to essentially 4-5 round Android Wear smartwatches on the market. What will differentiate them from each another? Price? Bands? Proprietary software? As the Android Wear ecosystem quickly becomes a commodity market, who’s going to take the lead?
We won’t have to wait too long to find out.
