A Three Month Review of the Apple Watch

July 15, 2015

Jonathan Geller of BGR has written an extensive review of his experience wearing his Apple Watch Edition for 3 months. Here’s his conclusion:

Instead of always checking it for every single notification and then getting lost in Twitter or reading another email, or something else, this lets me step away just a little bit. And it really is freeing.

I have not worn a single mechanical watch since getting the Apple Watch on April 24th. I have tried a couple of mine on for a minute or two, admired them, and put them back into a watch winder box or a case. I then put my Apple Watch back on my wrist and laugh that in the future, younger generations are going to grow up and wonder why we ever put a piece of steel on our wrists that only told us the time and date.

It’s early in this category, but it couldn’t be more clear that Apple is the winner, and I haven’t liked a product this much, ever, even months later.

He seems a little more enthusiastic about the Watch than I am, but I have very similar feelings. I’ve mentioned this a few times, but the idea of having to have to my iPhone within my line of sight at all times seems crazy to me right now. There are times in the day where I truly don’t even know where my phone is around the house. And what’s great is that it doesn’t matter because anything that’s important comes right to my wrist. To me, that’s one of the biggest strengths of the Apple Watch.

Like Geller, I have also worn some pretty nice watches in the past, and I have not worn any of them since having my Apple Watch. In fact, I’m heading to a wedding in a few weeks and I think I might pick up a nicer band to go with my Watch instead of swapping out my Apple Watch. Why? I’m not exactly sure. I just like wearing it. It gives me information whereas my other watches are purely just jewelry.

Something about having both in a sleek package is appealing to me.
