Bowling Central Will Turn Your Apple Watch Into A Wii-Like Remote For Apple TV
With watchOS 2, Apple is giving third-party developers access to the Watches hardware including the accelerometer, and that’s exactly what Rolucule is looking to do with an update for its bowling game Bowling Central. The game is designed with AirPlay streaming capability, allowing you to project the game from your iPhone or your iPad to your Apple TV-connected display. From there, the Watch acts as a motion sensor — very much like a Wii remote — giving you control of how you throw the ball.
This isn’t Rolocule’s first time with this sort of thing. They also created a tennis game called Motion Tennis that supports similar controls from an Android Wear smartwatch. Rolocule is bringing it to the Apple Watch because they finally have access to the Watches sensors, something that was not possible with Apple’s initial release of WatchKit.
But wait, there’s more. Rolocule, which normally sells for $2.99 is currently available for free from the App Store. The company has also added local multiplayer support allowing you to use multiple phones (and maybe Watches) when connected to an Apple TV.
I can only imagine what other motion games and apps will come to life whenever we see a new Apple TV.
