Trade Out Your Apple Watch Band
If you’ve got an Apple Watch, hopefully you’re a big fan of the Band that shipped with it. Due to availability constraints, however, some folks probably purchased different color combos than they otherwise would have, rendering the overall experience less than ideal. Others might simply be tired of the color they chose.
In either case, there’s a burgeoning network of Band-swapping sites cropping up around the Internet, and they promise to alleviate some of that aesthetic buyer’s remorse without asking you to pay even more to make it happen.
The biggest of these sites, iBandSwap, has over 500 users and allows them to trade their elastomer Sport Bands (or just half of them, for those who like to mix and match) without charging a fee for the service. Some especially large-wristed users are even using the site to find extra links for their stainless steel Apple Watch bracelets. There’s just one catch: Any deal you make for a trade is your own. Beyond buying a brand new Band from Apple, there’s really no recourse if you get ripped off.
Competitors of iBandSwap include StrapSwap and the France-based Band-Band, though I expect a lot more of these little classified outlets to pop up in the near term, with and without reselling in place.
We already knew bands could be a big aftermarket for Apple Watch, but I hadn’t considered that factory Bands would.
