Apple Watch Sales To Pass iPhone In First-Year Volume
[H]ere’s a little historical perspective that suggests the Apple Watch won’t take nearly as long as the iPhone did to catch on: it appears to be well on track to outpace the iPhone in year-one sales.
Apple sold 5.4 million iPhones in their first year, according to this handy chart from Statista.
Provided Apple catches up with demand and ameliorates some of its production issues within the next few months, this seems like a foregone conclusion. With “analysts” predicting sales in the double-digit millions, even a conservative estimate would suggest that the new wearable will at least double iPhone’s year-one figures. Heck, the thing might have eclipsed iPhone already, as some market trackers claimed Apple moved three million Apple Watches…three weeks ago.
