It's Not Too Late to Sell Your Apple Watch to GameStop for a Good Price

It's Not Too Late to Sell Your Apple Watch to GameStop for a Good Price

September 12, 2016

If you haven’t already sold your original Apple Watch via NextWorth, eBay, Swappa, or similar, you might want to sell your Apple Watch to GameStop. They are offering better prices than NextWorth, though probably not as much as what you could get selling privately directly though eBay and its ilk.

As redditor EthanObi discovered, video game seller GameStop is giving surprisingly high cash trade-in values for the original Apple Watch.

$165 For 42mm stainless steel Apple Watch

$140 For 38mm stainless steel Apple Watch

$130 For 42mm Apple Watch Sport

$120 for 38mm Apple Watch Sport

As with other resale sites, the stainless steel Apple Watch does not hold its value as well as the aluminum Apple Watch Sport. That’s unfortunate for those of us Apple Watch owners who ponied up for the deluxe model, but not unusual for tech in general, where base models generally retain a higher percentage of the value.

Note that these prices are for Apple Watches in working, undamaged condition, with the charger included. However, GameStop only docks you one dollar if the charger is NOT included, so I would strongly recommend keeping that charger as a spare for your next Apple Watch, as you are certainly not going to be able to buy a spare for anything close to a buck. Even if you’re selling your Apple Watch and not buying a new one, you could sell the charger separately for a lot more than a dollar someplace else.

Also note that you get the same price for your Apple Watch whether you select Trade Credit or Cash. You’ll definitely want to take the cash deal so be sure to select that in your transaction. There is no benefit to trading in a more expensive band with your Apple Watch, so be sure to trade it in with your Sport band if you have one.
