Open Band Is An Open Source Design For An Apple Watch Band

The Open Band project is a project by fast prototyping company, Breakfast, which a goal of creating an open source design for bands for the Apple Watch. The goal is to help create inexpensive replacements using a range of different materials.

According to the team, things are progressing well and they wanted to share their progress:

In early summer of 2015, we attempted to create an open source design file that would allow people to create a unique, low-cost Apple Watch band which could be laser cut from a number of unique materials, such as: wood, acrylic, acetal, etc. We never quite perfected the design, but made it most of the way there. Maybe we’ll find our way back to eventually, but until then you can see some of the progress we made.

The concept is super cool and could pave the way to some interesting band designs, something that for the most part has been lacking from third-party makers.
