Potential Bluetooth Speaker Problem Reported With watchOS 2

September 24, 2015

While skimming through the comments of The Guardian’s watchOS 2 review (their verdict: “Still no killer app”), I came across one user’s curious complaint:

The update has taken away the ability for me to have my watch, my Bluetooth speaker, and phone to be paired together. So I can’t use my watch to switch songs on my phone while listening to music through my Bluetooth speaker.

I’m investigating this problem through the various requisite forums and Apple’s Support Communities, but I haven’t yet found anything to substantiate the issue. Further, a Bluetooth speaker should work like Bluetooth headphones insofar as connectivity, so if this were an actual widespread issue, we’d have likely heard about it by now. After all, Apple is firmly in the business of selling Bluetooth Beats products, and such a problem would surely constitute a must-fix urgency. Still, this could be a real bug dependent on the combination of iPhone and speaker models used (which is pertinent information omitted from the post).

At any rate, if you’ve come across this frustrating phenomenon, be sure to let us know.
