Apple Watch Now Works with the August Smart Lock

Unlocking your door seems like something the Apple Watch will easily be able to do in the future. Seriously, the idea of taking our your keys or even your smartphone already seems a bit ridiculous, yet we’re still doing it. That’s all about to change today, because the August smart lock now lets you unlock your door with just a swipe and a tap from your Apple Watch.

Of course, it’s still early in the game, but we think these types of interactions have a big future, especially if at some point we don’t require any swipes or taps, but instead the lock knows who we are and trusts us. What’s cool about the August smart lock is that it’s also capable of showing you a log of who’s come and gone. Nifty.

Does that justify the $250 price tag? Depends how much you value convenience. Still, it’s good to see this stuff happening. It’ll only be a matter of time before it’s the norm.
