"Thing's I've Done with My Apple Watch"

July 3, 2015

Apple Watch owner Dmitri has put up a list of things he’s done with his Apple Watch.

I’ve done quite a few of these things and to be honest, I wouldn’t call any of these things “killer” features. That’s not to say that the Watch isn’t awesome because I believe it is. However, when you individually mention any of these things to people, you may not get an “oh wow” reaction out of them.

What’s amazing to me though, is that collectively all the things add up to be something that’s really great. For example, yesterday while having a late dinner at my friends house, I got a few notifications regarding NBA trades and contract signings that were happening around the league. If I had said to my friend “Look! I get this notification for NBA trades right on my wrist!” his reaction may be been something like “oh, cool.”

But after a couple notifications, even he took notice at the convenience that was happening before his eyes. He realized that I didn’t have to pull out my phone to get the information I  was seeking. It was simply pushed to me and I could spend a couple seconds glancing down and then get back to whatever we were doing. It doesn’t make for a great demo, but it’s something people will notice as convenient over time.

That’s really what the Apple Watch is all about too. It’s hard to say “here’s the killer feature”, but once you witness or even experience it for a short time, you almost instantly start to get it.
